Happy July 4th Everyone!

Tetu life has been great this week! We have had some really fun guests, many young people and they have all been busy catching some nice fish. We've seen 5 or 6 pike up to the 43 inch range, and walleyes in all sizes this week. They seem to be shallow right now, and some nice ones taken on bottom bouncers, but most the walleye on jigs and minnows. Crawlers have been decent as well.

Weather has been much better, with highs in the low 70s, so jackets and sweatshirts have been a must in the mornings. I can't believe it's already the first week of July and the weather has been pretty cool for this time of year! GLOBAL WARMING?? HA!!!! Nights are still down into the lower 50s!

We finally got one of the big boats back from the repair shop and no sooner was it in the water and the OTHER one went down, so that is in the shop now and we hope to have it running again this week.

Staff fishing day is set for this Monday-We don't have any guests for a day, so we're having a tournament for the staff and the money pot is growing quickly! Jim and Larry from Duluth also threw a nice amount in, so one of the staff will be very happy if they catch and release the largest walleye or largest pike for the day! We'll end the day up with a picnic, barbeque and a bean bag game for everyone. They are all looking forward to the day off and Ed and I cooking THEM dinner for a change! It's great that it worked out for all of us, as they work so hard all season and for all of us to take a day off from Tetu and just have fun will be a welcome surprise for all of us!

July will be Kathi's family month for us-My niece, her husband and their son Austin, from Omaha will arrive the 12th for their first visit to Tetu. Followed my her brother, Aaron and his girlfriend Amy from Waterloo, IA for a fishing vacation. I'm VERY excited that some of my very best friends from Denver, CO, Pennsylvania and southern Iowa will also be coming at the end of the month for a visit, and it will be their first as well! My girlfriends will be bringing their husbands for a change and it will be fun to get together here and show off this beautiful resort. None have ever fished Canada, so I have many plans for them!

Daughter Kate will also be coming soon from Minneapolis and as always, it's such a treat to have her come "home" for a visit! At the end of July I will make my way down to Kansas City to pick up my mom and we'll stop in IA to pick up Ed's mother, then I will bring the ladies to Tetu for a couple of weeks. They both were here last summer, but this year we will make sure they come together, and they always enjoy the trip.

The water levels are still really high for this time of year, but that hasn't stopped the fishing at all. These fish are so adaptable with the river system that the guides are hitting the spots and finding fish about everywhere! We haven't seen as many bass as normal though, and of course, we would always like to see more of the HUGE pike we are known for! Hope July will be the LUCKY month and we'll find them!

Our July and August have begun to fill nicely, but that's not to say we wouldn't like more reservations and Ed has sharpened his pencil if any of you are thinking of a trip yet this year! We're giving some really nice discounts on a couple of the dates we have open, especially for children, or if you are considering fishing 3 per boat, so give us a call or e mail and we can work something out for you!

Guests love these Crestliner boats and with the 90HP Mercs they can reach their spots so quickly! I have always been very partial to the Crestliners and love the way they hold up, ride on the water and how comfortable they are to fish out of.

We hope you are enjoying your summer, some beautiful weather, and of course, the most important thing, is spending time with your loving family and friends! Thanks for taking the time to check out our Tetu news for the week! LIFE IS GOOD! We have many things to be thankful for and we all hope our economy and financial positions will soon improve! We MUST keep a positive attitude to enjoy each and every day!

Kathi
