Fall Greetings from the Henns!

Ed has finally gotten off Tetu Island and back home in Minneapolis! The morning he and the crew left, it began snowing and continued snowing for the entire morning to a total of about 5 inches with substantial winds! Needless to say, it made packing up, pulling boats and closing up a little difficult and LONG!

Ed pulled the Bobcat home with him to use here at the house this winter and a I'll share a funny story with you about trying to get it into the states---As I say, it was a long day just getting off the island, dropping the large boat off in Kenora on his way also. He then hooked up the trailer that holds the Bobcat to haul home. When he arrived at customs in Ft. Frances to cross into Intl. Falls, he was told the bobcat was "too dirty" to bring into the states and it had too much Canadian soil on the machine! He proceeded to turn around, and had to spend another 90 minutes at a carwash cleaning the machine!~ I cannot tell you how frustrated and irritated he was to add another 2 hours onto his trip home! Made for a long day for the poor guy. BUT, he finally made it home safe and sound!

We had our final meeting yesterday on the new 2010 Tetu Brochure. Having the new photographer and the awesome photos will be a fun thing to share with all of you. So many gorgeous shots it is hard to choose from but we'll have them put onto a disc so we can play it in the lodge next summer for all of you to see. We're thrilled with the new people working on the brochure that Bill Coontz hooked up for us and I am anxious to get it to print soon.

Obviously, with this economy Ed and I are forced to drop a few of the sport shows that we attend this season. We still plan on attending a Chicago show, and of course Minneapolis. Please come and visit us if you are in the area while we are there. We love seeing our Tetu friends during these times and visiting with you!

We already miss many of our VIP staff from Tetu! Mitch, Todd, Amanda and Jason were awesome for staying and help closing Tetu for the season. Tracey and Greg are busy at home planning their March wedding and we are still hoping to attend this great event! Lindsay and Darryl picked up their new puppy on the way home and are thrilled with their new addition. Tracey and Greg also got a new puppy, she is a female Boxer named Ava. Alexis and Gareth bought a new puppy too! I'm afraid Ed started something when he brought home Cooper and Caliber!

The project of building a new lower deck by the docks was begun before Ed closed up. They will complete it in the spring and it will be great to have a new one by the time all of you arrive next season. They tore the existing one down before they left. Let's cross our fingers that the water is low next spring!

Even though we are home and getting settled in for the winter, it's always such a bittersweet time as we leave Tetu each season. We're thankful for another year in business and we are very grateful to each and every one of you for your visits and friendships. It's hard to believe that we are going into our 15th year and amazing that some of you have been with us for the entire time! Ed and I are so lucky to be able to have this beautiful resort and getting to know so many of you! Thank you so much!

I cannot stress enough to you the importance that we stay connected with all of you! We want you to feel free to call us, e mail us or write any concerns, thoughts or suggestions you may have for us. Our main concern for you is that we continue to give you our personal and so important attention to you and the details needed in order for you to have the very best we have to offer at Tetu Island Lodge.

On a personal note, we hope that you are having an enjoyable fall with your friends and family. We're enjoying spending time with our two youngest children here in MN and we are headed to our oldest son's, J.B.'s for Thanksgiving. Ed is leaving for South Dakota hunting with a group of our guests at Tetu for a week with Cooper today. I will be headed to Kansas City tomorrow with Caliber and Muskie for a visit with my mom and sister and family. We try to see and spend time with the family as much as possible during the off season. Ed's mom and sister just left here after visiting for a few days and we'll see them again in November. The holidays are right around the corner and before we know it will be sport show season, so we hope to hear from you soon with your reservations for 2010. This time of year is a great time to choose your dates!

Again, thank you for the fun, laughs and great memories at Tetu this past summer! I'll do my best to keep blogging during the winter!

Kathi
